What's a Good Deed?

Run an errand, mow a lawn, plant a tree, bring books or groceries to someone unable to do these things.
Drive courteously.
Give your bus seat to another.
Be especially thoughtful and patient with everyone you meet.
Pay someone an unexpected compliment.
Make special time for loved ones.
Send a greeting card or gift; make a phone call to a distant loved one.
Pay attention to people around you. You'll quickly find someone who could use a helping hand.
Organize an activity that reminds participants of the importance of kindness in our everyday lives.

Do that something special you've intended to do for so long.

A Good Deed is an act of kindness that benefits others and is above and beyond your normal duties and responsibilities.

It can be as small as an unexpected favor for a family member, neighbor, fellow employee or friend.

It can be as big as participating in a community project, making a donation, or giving the gift of your time and energy to do something worthwhile that benefits others.

Wear a Green Ribbon
We encourage everyone to wear a green ribbon as a symbol of the future, made brighter by the performance of good deeds.

Send us your ideas or plans for good deeds and we'll post them here.

Good Deed Day in Houston is not affiliated with myGoodDeed.org, which until recently was One Day's Pay, a nonprofit 501c3 organization leading the effort to establish September 11 as a national day of voluntary service, charity and good deeds.
