Why Good Deed Day?

Good Deed Day will help us remember September 12th, 2001, when the United States saw an outpouring of kindness and compassion from a world shocked by the brutality of the September 11 attacks. It was a turning point for many of us, not only at a national level, but personal as well.

Our intent in creating Good Deed Day is to find a meaningful way to reinforce the qualities of leadership and compassion, not only among our City’s youth, but our citizens as well. This day also will serve to remind us that we are strongest when we help others; that we can rise above any challenges, no matter how difficult they may be.

The Sam Houston Council, Boy Scouts of America, asks Houstonians to do simple, meaningful acts of kindness that benefit others and are above and beyond duties and responsibilities.

Good Deeds have a way of spreading fast, once the seeds are planted.

Please encourage your local schools, businesses, churches and civic organizations to participate and to share this information within their organizations.
